Must Have Classroom Supplies

When I was in the classroom I spent my entire summer preparing for the next school year. I would think about the theme I was going to do, reflect on my year’s past, and hunt for the things I needed for the upcoming school year. I have compiled a list must have classroom supplies, but I also included some things that were nice to have as well. Every school is different and the materials available and supplied by the school varies, but these were things I found that I needed. Click on the pictures to be taken to the site to purchase. A Personal Laminator

My school had a laminator, but I found having one in my classroom saved me from having to wait in line before school or during prep periods. I bought mine very cheap during an Amazon lightning deal, so if you are in the market for one you can always check those out. I found a reasonable Amazon basic one.
Amazon also has laminating sheets for a pretty good price.

Photo Keeper Storage Box

The next item that I found super useful in my classroom is a photo storage box with inserts. These boxes are PERFECT for task card and flash card storage! I used scavenger hunts for test review all the time in the classroom and these boxes were a sanity saver! I labeled each individual box with the unit and could easily find what I needed when I needed it.

Door Bell

I never personally used one, but I know tons of teachers who swear by a doorbell as a classroom management tool. Their students know that when the teachers rings the bell they need to stop and listen. This seems like a great voice saver for teachers!

Pre-sharpened Pencils

My school always supplied us with pencils, but inevitably by midyear they were all gone. This is an Amazon Basics 150 pack. I always bought pre-sharpened ones because it was a pain to sharpen them all!

Pencil Sharpener

And of course with all the pencils you’ll be going through a pencil sharpener comes in handy! I used this one in my classroom for years. I also have a manual one that I love. It gets the perfect point every time.

Over the Door Organizer

The back of my classroom was lined with closets and I used these on every single door. They are great for storage of craft supplies, technology materials, school supplies, and so much more. They surprisingly hold a lot of things!

Lanyards

There are so many uses for these lanyards in the classroom, but I bought them for testing tags. Test tags celebrate student achievement in the classroom. I have seen teachers use these for the first few days as a way to learn student names, as a means for behavior management, and jobs to name a few.

Anchor Chart Paper

These Post-it sticky pads are awesome for creating anchor charts with your students. The part I loved most about them was that when you finish it tears off and can be hung around the classroom easily. I don’t know about your classroom, but we were constantly making anchor charts in mine!

Anchor Chart Markers

With all the chart making, I needed some great markers that would stand out. I used these Sharpie flip chart markers. I like that they have a bullet tip because it made it easier to write with.

Glue Sticks

Much like pencils, my school also gave us glue sticks at the beginning of the year. However, by November we were out! There must be something about glue sticks that makes them disappear. I would always stock up when I saw them on sale.

Post-It Notes

I used so many Post-its in the classroom! I create to do lists with them, used them in my planner so I could easily move lessons around, and had my students use them as well. My students used them to mark up texts, as bookmarks, exit tickets, and so much more!

Teacher Planner

I am a pen and paper girl. Digital doesn’t work as well for me. We were required to keep digital planners at my school, but in order to do that I had to write it out first. I have been through a few different planners. I’ve used Erin Condren, which I loved. I used Plum Paper. I loved the customizability of that. Most recently I switched to Happy Planner which I am really loving. The Happy Planner is my current go to since you can add and remove pages. I also love all the cute accessories that go with it!  I am a total supplies girl. If you have a go to planner that you love share it in the comments!  I am always on the hunt!

Fabric

Originally I covered my bulletin boards with paper.  I seriously loathe bulletin boards and find covering them with paper and borders to be super tedious.  I switched to fabric and found it held up so much better.  I just bought some nice neutral fabric and could change out the borders if I wanted to switch it up (which I didn’t  LOL).  I bought mine at Walmart, but Amazon has tons to choose from.  I found this pretty burlap one which I love!

What are some of your must have classroom supplies?
