Resources for Electricity and Magnetism

In my last blog post on teaching electricity and magnetism I shared some simple, hands-on ideas for the elementary classroom. Today I will be sharing some resources on electricity and magnetism.

This is just a resource list I composed that I find valuable. Please comment below with any other helpful resources you have used to teach electricity and magnetism!

Videos

  • brainpop.com
  • brainpopjr.com
  • brainpop and brainpopjr are subscription sites, but have free videos. If your school has a subscription these are great resources to introduce a topic.
  • Bill Nye- who doesn’t love Bill? He has great videos on both electricity and magnetism. These videos run about 30 minutes and are great for both an introduction or wrap up.
  • Magnets and Static Electricity This is a subscription site, but you can try it for free
  • Magnetism video from Peekaboo Kidz
  • Energy video from Peekaboo Kids
  • Fun with Magnets video from Sci Show Kids
  • The Power of Circuits video from Sci Show Kids

Websites

Books

The following book lists are linked on Amazon. They are affiliate links and as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. I like to have books of different levels for my students. While this is not a comprehensive list, it is a good start if you have any to add let me know in the comments below.

However, the most important thing when teaching electricity and magnetism is to let your students, explore, discover, and have fun!
